1. What do the numbers on the wheels mean?

Submitted by: sk8rboy

The mm is of course millimeters meaning the size of the wheel. The bigger the faster you will go, and a bigger wheel will roll over most rocks and cracks. Smaller wheels can trip you up on small cracks and rocks. If you are beginning you might want 55 or 56 mm wheels till you get better at balancing. The numbers followed by an A is the durometer. It is the hardness of the wheel. Here is a list of them.

87A - Used more for long boards, for rough and uneven surfaces.

95A - For riding street and rough surfaces.

97A - This I feel is the best for beginners it is all around, for street, and skate parks, any smooth surface.

100A - This is the hardest of all. It has very bad grip and riding in rough surfaces is almost impossible. Many pros use this hardness of wheel.

That is basically what the numbers mean.

2. Where can I find plans for a small and cheap halfpipe?

Well I am planning to build a halfpipe in June of 2003 my dad told me if I find some good plans and get the money we can build it. I found the good plans and I am now starting to save up the money for it. The halfpipe I am planning to build is 3 ft. high and will cost around $450. Here is the web site I found the plans at. www.rickdahlen.com/hpplans/plans.html

3. How do I drop in?

I am going to put vert tips on my list of Trick Tips but to answer your question. You put the tail of you board on the coping and have your back foot on the tail. Aim your front foot for the bottom two bolts that hold your truck on. The first time I dropped in was on a 3 ft. bowl at a skate park and it took me awhile to build up my confidence to try it so that is what you need to do next. In one swift motion push down on the front and go for it. The first tries you will probably fall, but get back up and try again until you get it. Once you go down the first time it is a lot easier to try again cause you basically broke the ice, meaning you wont be as scared. Keep at it and you will get it.

4. Does waxing the bottom of your board or trucks help you grind?

Some people think so, but frankly I don't think so. I think if you wax the rail or curb good you will grind good whether or not you wax the bottom of your trucks or board. This is just my opinion.
